  • Just sayin' Robby........If you read my post verbatim, MOST righ risk industries DON'T rely on an OS to generate alarms.......BUT most industries in generally rely on MS to run their HMI. HMI's DON"T (or should I say SHOULDN'T) generate a HARD- WIRED SIREN.

  • David...that was exactly my point....alarms are there to protect individuals, and to a somehat lesser degree, the process......well, in this case it has affected both...the individuals (EVERYONE on a shrimp boat, the tourist industry, et al......in the southern and south eastern gulf …

  • And on another note......I have seen instances in pretty much EVERY industry where system and operator protection has been compromised in the name of the almighty dollar.

  • MOST high risk industries will NOT rely on an operating system such as Microsoft (anything) to trigger alarms......They SHOULD be triggered by the Programmable Logic Controller or controller running the process. These PLCs do not usually "lock up" because they are not run by an operating system.

  • Is it just me or does it seem that the race card is becoming more of a carte blach sort of thing? It's getting to the point that REVERSE discrimination is becoming the norm.....police brutality? a minority getting passed over for a promotion? Better call Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton!!!!
